Gentle Touch Animal Sanctuary

Adopting a rescued animal brings many rewards, saves a life, and opens up space for another animal in need.  However, animal adoption is something that should be considered carefully and is NOT always the BEST choice for everyone. What most people do not realize when they see their cute little kitten they are about to take home is that most likely that little life was in pretty bad shape when it arrived . Countless hours given by unpaid volunteers were probably necessary to nurse that little one back to health.  We do NOT have the perfect animal here at GTAS and many of them may require additional care whether behavioral or medical care. Rescued animals do NOT come with a guarantee and medical expenses are a very real possibility.  While we appreciate you considering one of our rescued animals we want to make sure that you understand and consider all the possibilities before adopting.

To ensure the best possible match for both human and animal, we require the following:

  • Completed application form (cats & dogs) and pre-adoption questionnaire (dogs only)
  • Background Check
  • Personal References
  • Veterinary Reference
  • Possible Home Visit

In order to be considered for an adoption you must be:

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Have the knowledge and consent of all adults in your home
  • Have verifiable identification (i.e. driver's license)
  • If renting, have landlords consent

Once you have completed the above, you will be notified if you are approved to adopt. You can let us know which animal you would like to meet and a visit will be arranged or we will let you know where you can pick up your new addition to the family.

Your new animal will have, as a minimum, the following:

  • Vet examination
  • Spay or neuter
  • Heart worm test for dogs; feline luekemia test for cats
  • De-wormer for intestinal parasites
  • Flea and tick preventative treatment
  • Age appropriate vaccinations

We have cats available for adoption at the Saint Louis Park Petsmart, Roseville Petsmart, and Roseville Petco. You can visit them there during normal business hours.
